What is a Root Canal?
A Root Canal is a treatment of the pulp of the tooth that is inflamed, infected, or potentially dead. The root canal is the anatomic space within the root of a tooth that consists of the pulp chamber, the main canal(s), and more intricate anatomical components that may connect the root canals to each other or to the surface of the root. What is a Root Canal Treatment?
It is a common procedure that will replace the rotten or decaying pulp in the root canal (nerve) of your teeth.
Why does rotten tooth pulp need to be removed?
When a tooth’s pulp is decayed or damaged it can cause inflammation. Bacteria will gather and multiply within the tooth chamber which will cause an infection or an abscessed tooth and is likely to result in extreme toothache pain.
Is it painful?
Contrary to popular belief, root canal feel the same as having a filling placed. Prior to the procedure, you will be given adequate Sedation to numb the area as we clean the root canal.
After the procedure, we will will disinfect and seal the canals, then place a Crown (CEREC) – Same Day Crown or a temporary crown to protect it from breaking.
